Ceramic wall/table vase
4"x12"
"Homage to Theodore Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss"

$200

I have a great respect and love for the writings and art of Theodore Geisel, for it was he who taught me how to read. I still remember the jubilation I felt when I was able to read FOX IN SOX for the first time. I ran down the stairs of my gradmother's house and made every member of my family listen to the wonderful waterfall of words that I now could decipher. Joy such as that tends to stick with a person and is almost inevitably reflected in their art.

This piece can hang on the wall or rest on its flat base. It is designed for dry displays only.

It is made of pink earthenware and has a tremendous amount of relief texture. It was bisque fired at cone 04. Then wax resist, lots of underglaze and a topcoat of old world crackle were applied and fired to cone 05 slowly.
